There is a foreigner becomes a viral
because of their sarcastic remark about the slogan of Department of Tourism. He
made a new version of it and they putted in their t-shirt the statement “Is not fun in the Philippines” and it has a continuation in another t-shirt
with a statement of “Because there is too much corruption”. These statements
made many netizens furious.
Filipino people are known for being
patience. But if there are foreigners insulting us or saying any bad words, we
lose our temper; we become reactionary. Why? Because it is hard to face the
reality; the truth hurts. Or they don’t want to be insulted by other
nationality? But if both Filipinos are insulting each other, it is just okay.
Like when the book author Dan Brown described Manila as a gate of hell in one
of his book because of its bad image. Poverty and prostitution are rampant here.
Some Filipino people got hurt although the novel is just a fiction. Even MMDA
Chairman Francisco Tolentino reacted and he wrote a letter condemning Dan Brown
because of his negative description about Manila. But in reality, does Manila
is a clean city or not?
There is also an incident that a
Holywood actress gave a bad comment about the Philippines. She said that places
in our country were so dirty and with unpleasant odor. Recently, there is also
a blogger posted in her blog that she hates Filipino foods because its unusual
taste. She wondered why other foreigners like it.
Every time when we hear these kind
of remarks from foreigners, our initial reaction would be violent. It seems
that we want to slap their faces. But we can’t do that, all we have to do is
retaliate them by throwing them thrash talk. We felt so badly. If they are
looking for trouble we will give it to them.
By the way, what’s the reaction of the
DOT to their twisted slogan? They are trying to make a good image about our
country, but there are some foreigners who want to give a shame to their
campaign. But on the other side, we don’t blame them if this is what they are
thinking about our country. But they don’t have a right to put any negative
statement in their t-shirt against us. The Filipino people already knew that
there are many corruptions here, especially in the government. For sure, their
country has also problems that they need to resolve. Philippines is still a
beautiful country, although it is true that sometimes it is not fun here.
Therefore, there is no perfect country in this world!
