DOH New TV Commercial about Family Planning, an Awareness to Lessen Poverty?

Have you already watched the new campaign of the Department of Health about family planning? In a TV commercial, there’s a young lady singing about the situation of their family. At first, they were only a few, but every year her mother born a child until they become twelve. Because of this their life becomes miserable. Their parents can’t provide all of their needs.

The young lady has a doubt, if their parents love their family. Why they chose to be suffered? Are they don’t know that having many children is very hard? What would be their future if this the situation of their family is really worse. The young lady has been dropped out of her schooling because of extreme poverty. Very realistic, isn’t?

This TV commercial reflects the situation of Pinoy families in our society. More parents love to multiply as much as they want. Some of them believes that having many children is a blessing from above. They make an argument that they are only following the doctrine of God written in the Bible, when He said that, “Go and be multiplied”.  But if we look in reality, we are already multiplied compared to earlier decades. As of now, the Philippine population is almost 100 million. They also treat this as an investment because they are hoping that someday their children could help them when they growing older.

Of course, it is still up to the parents how many children they want to have. But please, make sure that the parents would give all the needs for their children. If not, they may think thrice. It is not a justifiable if they only want it. Without thinking what would be the outcome of their action. Maybe they are only making a big problem; not only to their family, but to the society as a whole. Then, if they suffer, they will blame it to the government.

We should be logical, if there are only a few members in the family, it is more easier compared to the big family. If you have only a few children, you could less your expenses. Remember that opportunities in the Philippines are very limited. So, how can you give a better life for your family if you have many children. Unless, you’re very rich and you’re idolizing Ramon Revilla Sr. Who have more than 70 children with different women! But for sure, even the rich like to limit the member of their family.

This is not just an issue about family planning, or for the women’s health. This is also for the sake of children. They have the right to live better and to have a good future and this is the responsibility of every parent to give full support to their children.
